Mel Austen

Having spent six years in the fitness and well-being industry, and having grown up actively involved in sports, the individual discovered Pilates eight years ago as a complementary balance to their other movement modalities. Following a back injury, they immersed themselves further into their Pilates practice and haven't looked back since. An advocate for balance, they are passionate about helping individuals discover movement that brings them joy. In their classes, this fitness enthusiast enjoys creating a nurturing and high-energy space, providing a sanctuary where people can disconnect from the outside world and connect with themselves—body, breath, and all. The emphasis is on finding inner strength, length, and, most importantly, having fun. Their teaching philosophy revolves around encouraging individuals to push their limits while also recognizing when to pull back, fostering an educational approach to the body so that people feel empowered in their movement. As a Pilates teacher, they take great honour in witnessing the transformation of individuals' bodies, watching them grow stronger through the practice.
